Day 1–Adelaide/Singapore/Rome-Friday, January 3rd 2014: Ms Vial

Welcome to St Paul’s College 2014 European Trip BLOG. As we settle into the routines of our daily travels, I will endeavour to have the students record their responses to what they have seen; however, given most of us are sleep deprived after a 20 or so hour flight, you will notice the blog tonight is limited to what Jim and I have to recount. Having felt unwell upon arrival, and aware that Jim has given you an extensive run down of the day’s happenings, I will keep mine brief.

Rome

The no stop overs was a good idea in one sense, because it meant we could begin our proposed tour immediately. However, it was hard going after a long fight. Despite this, the boys were more than impressed about walking through the ancient Roman ruins and negotiating new currency and traffic. Thanks to our guide, we also obtained a good run down of all the main attractions which some will return to tomorrow.

The evening has just ended with tea and a simple celebration for Reece Skinner’s 15th Birthday. – Something for him to recall in years to come. As is customary, there was also time to debrief with the students about some important matters to keep in mind whilst we begin our travels.
