Day 5 – Assisi/Pisa/Florence - Tuesday, January 7th 2014: Ms Vial

We left Assisi early this morning. The valley below, where we were staying, was thick with fog, although Assisi itself was clear and sunny. We really have been very fortunate with the weather and have managed to escape the rain and storms.

We are including below a few more photos from Assisi, which we were unable to send last night due to our very slow internet connection. Also included is the Leaning Tower of Pisa; a very impressive structure and a very popular attraction. (3 ½  hours from Assisi by coach)

Another hour brought us to Firenze – home of the Renaissance and centre of the arts in Italy. The boys had a few hours here to walk down to the Ponte Vecchio, the oldest surviving bridge, once home to butcher shops, but now lined with very expensive jewellery stores. They also had their first real opportunity to do some shopping at the markets nearby and to wander the streets still decorated with Christmas lights.

Today we saw the leaning tower of Pisa
